Yachting is one of the specialised activities conducted under NCC naval and adventure training. It provides cadets with exposure to sailing, water-based activities, teamwork and handling challenging conditions on the water.
The All India Yachting Regatta also provides a platform for proficient NCC yachtsmen to develop their sailing skills and compete at a higher level.

The directive states that the All India Yachting Regatta is conducted between September and the end of November, preferably at INS Chilka. Deserving cadets may also be awarded YAI Level 1, 2 and 3 certificates.
